How to check a neutral wire in your house ?

Mday provide switches in two modes, as smart switch with neutral wire and smart switch no neutral wire. You can check if you have neutral wire before you buy one . In this article we will show you how to check a neutral wire in your house. You can easily replace the old switch at home to realize the smart home system.

Usually, the neutral wire will be connected with dimmer switch. It is usually a white(blue,black) wire. If it's not connected to your old switch, look for a bunch of white wires tied together behind your wall box. Brilliant control requires a neutral wire. How to check the neutral line:

Turn off the power supply of the light switch circuit breaker to check the neutral line. The best way is to turn on the light switch to turn on the light, and then turn to the circuit breaker to turn off the circuit of the light switch. When the light goes out, you will know that you have selected the correct circuit.

Before you got Mday smart switch with neutral wire mode ,check whether the power supply has been turned off. You can test with a non-contact voltage tester or a multimeter. We recommend using a non-contact voltmeter. Try to turn on and off the old light switch again, if the light is not turned on, it should indicate that the power supply is turned off.

After confirming that the power is off, you can now remove the old light switch. Remove the two screws that secure the light switch to the junction box. Now you can remove the light switch and pull it forward to check the wiring in the junction box to determine whether there is a neutral wire.
